Intermodal

Service Details

Intermodal freight transport involves the transportation of freight in an intermodal container or vehicle, using multiple modes of transportation (rail, ship, andtruck), without any handling of the freight itself when changing modes. The method reduces cargo handling, and so improves security, reduces damage and loss, and allows freight to be transported faster. Reduced costs over road trucking is the key benefit for inter-continental use. This may be offset by reduced timings for road transport over shorter distances.

Rail Service

Our company’s rail services provide much more than the average logistics company. Our facility is equipped with a rail spur that runs directly behind our building. This unique component of our business allows your product to be brought directly to our warehouse so that it can be transloaded and distributed by rail to its final destination. Rail is faster, safer and often is more cost efficient than other intermodal options.

Intermodal Trucking

Intermodal capable trucks are generally used to connect a container from ocean to rail or warehouse. These specialized trucks run between ocean ports, rail terminals, and inland shipping docks. However, there are times when trucks are primarily used in the movement of containers. Drop Box maintains a fleet of trucks capable of transporting cargo containers short distances or to destinations across the United States.
